Governor Mike Parson will hold a press conference to announce the next City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney. According to a press release from the governor's office, he will make the announcement on Friday, May 19 at the Carnahan Courthouse in St. Louis. The announcement comes days after Kim Gardner stepped down. Gardner, a Democrat who was part of a movement of progressive prosecutors who wanted mental health treatment or drug abuse treatment for low-level crimes rather than jail time, had faced opposition from Republicans in her six years in office.
